A trusted source for Albertans to find vital information on reducing the harm of alcohol and other drugs.

Cannabis, a drug that used to be illegal is now legal. Opioids have changed how people view recreational drug use. Prescription drug addiction is a growing concern for many Albertans.


In response, Alberta Health Services created DrugSafe — a trusted source for Albertans to find vital information on reducing the harm drugs can cause.


Currently, you can access information on the following:


  • Alcohol
  • Cannabis
  • Methamphetamine
  • Opioids


As more information becomes available, we will continue to update DrugSafe to reflect the growing drug-related concerns affecting Albertans. We will help you consider the risks of drugs if you are contemplating using, reduce the potential harm if you choose to use and help those in your life who may be using. We will do this with a key goal of reducing harm.
